All AFX Manufacturing Connecting Rods are manufactured from a 2-piece forging. A superior fatigue life is achieved by the forging process which forces the grain into the shape of a connecting rod. The rod cap is forged as a separate piece, so that the grain runs perpendicular to the load forces, this results in a strengthened connecting rod assembly. The AFX rods are manufactured from 4340 steel which increases the strength & fatigue life without making the connecting rod brittle.
